  • Go steady: move up in standard Wegovy steps, with around 4 weeks at each step.
  • Lowest effective dose wins: stop where results are good and side-effects are manageable.
Missed a dose?
  • Wegovy: If you miss a dose, you can usually take it within 5 days of the missed day; if more than 5 days have passed, skip and take the next dose on your usual day.
  • Ozempic (before): Follow your patient leaflet guidance; if you’re unsure, ask us.

What to expect when you switch

Mild GI symptoms can reappear when you re-titrate. These are usually short-lived.

We’ll support you with timing, food choices and dose cadence.

Why switching treatments makes sense

If your focus is weight management, Wegovy’s licensed dosing and structured ramp can make sense.

Especially if you started Ozempic for glucose control.

Proven outcomes with Wegovy

Many patients achieve meaningful weight loss with appropriate dosing and lifestyle support.

Individual results vary; we’ll tailor the plan to you.

Common questions

Faqs on switching from Ozempic to Wegovy

Nausea, reflux, constipation or diarrhoea can reappear during the switch from Ozempic to Wegovy. Eating smaller meals, slower eating and avoiding rich or fatty foods on dose day help. Contact a clinician if symptoms are moderate or persistent.

In some cases. Especially if you use insulin or a sulfonylurea as there’s a higher risk of low blood sugar when starting or stepping up. We’ll review your treatment plan and, if needed, coordinate dose changes.

Usually yes. Most people wait around a week so there’s no overlap. If you had recent nausea or heartburn, your clinician may extend the gap until symptoms settle.

Because Wegovy uses a different titration plan for weight management. Starting low again reduces side-effects and helps you find the lowest effective dose.

Most people do much better with Wegovy’s weight-management dosing and structured titration, but it’s important to note results can vary. The combination of dose, food habits, activity and sleep are what matters most.

Both Ozempic and Wegovy are once weekly injections. Read the new pen’s instructions on needle handling, priming, and dose display. Rotate your injection sites to abdomen, thigh and upper arm where possible.
